Start with the item, then choose the sheet
Measure the item at its widest points, including handles, lids or protruding edges. A mug, for example, needs room around its handle as well as its body. A sheet that covers a rectangular carton may not provide the same coverage around a curved item. Tell us what you are wrapping and its approximate weight so we can discuss the cut with the actual job in mind.
If you already have a packing method that works, send its dimensions or a reference photograph. If you are starting from scratch, explain whether the paper is mainly for separating surfaces, improving presentation or cushioning inside an outer box. Those are different jobs and may need different constructions.
